Victoria is
a 3rd year Communications Major at Brock University. Upon graduation
she plans on studying Fashion Marketing with hopes of one day having
a successful and exciting career in the fashion industry. With her interest
in fashion and love for helping others, she says she knew she wanted
to be a part of Goodwill’s Successfully Suited Program when she
heard about it. Being a “Successfully Suited Volunteer”
was a natural fit for Victoria.
One of her
most recent Successfully Suited clients was a young woman named “Mary.”
She had a job interview with the local Hospital. She had just completed
her education and with limited finances due to her student loans, she
was unable to afford appropriate career apparel for her job interview.
Victoria met
with “Mary” and helped her coordinate an appropriate outfit
for her upcoming interview. “Mary” was thrilled with her
new look – a classic pair of black pin-stripe pants, a crisp tailored
white blouse and to complete the look a pair of black patent leather
dress shoes.
Two days later
Victoria received a phone call from “Mary” thanking her
and she was excited to announce that her interview had been a success;
she had accepted a position as a Registered Nurse with the hospital.
Victoria says that she knows “Mary’s” education and
determination played a large role in her success, however, she continues
“ I believe that her professional career apparel helped “Mary”
make a positive first impression and she was able to step into that
interview with a new sense of self-confidence.”
Victoria is
passionate about clothes and she loves helping others. As she states,
“volunteering with Goodwill’s Successfully Suited Program
allows me to do what I love and at the same time make a valuable contribution
to my community!”
