Training Workshops:


Customer Service Skills Training:

This workshop allows individuals the opportunity to discuss the importance of good customer service and develop the skills needed to interact with people in a work environment. Topics include an introduction to the service industry, how to properly greet customers and welcome them back, how to provide courteous help, how to handle customer complaints, problem solving techniques, communication and basic telephone customer service skills.

Office Skills Training:

This workshop is designed to provide individuals with an introduction to office work. Topics include: telephone techniques as well as how to properly record messages, photocopying, faxing, filing and basic computer skills. Actual hands-on experience is provided in an office setting where the participant is able to complete work orders for various departments.

Cash Register Training:

This workshop is designed to provide individuals with the opportunity to acquire cash handling skills in a retail environment. Topics include: cash register functions, cashier duties, customer contact skills, correcting errors/voids, how to enter discounts/coupons, how to complete debit/credit card transactions and cheque authorization, as well as tax exempt procedures. Actual hands on training is provided in a retail setting.

Computer Skills Training:

This workshop is designed to introduce individuals to Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel: using the Windows XP operating system. Topics include: how to set up tool bars, how to create tables and charts, how to format reports and charts and manipulating data.


Life Skills Training:

This workshop is designed to provide individuals with the necessary skills needed for independent living in the community. Topics include: budgeting, stress and anger management, motivation, describes types of bank accounts and what they are used for, how to balance a cheque book, how to plan/prioritize tasks, problem solving skills, how to sort laundry and read symbols on clothing tags.

Janitorial Workshop:

This workshop is designed to provide individuals with the skills needed for employment in the professional cleaning field. Topics include: basic WHMIS, safety precautions, how to prioritize duties and the products used.

Job Readiness Workshop:

This workshop is designed to prepare an individual for the job search and interview process. Topics include: identifying your employment goal, developing resumes and cover letters, interviewing skills, managing your job search, how to dress for success, and tips for having a successfull interview. A presentation is made regarding the Successfully Suited program in order to assist them in creating a professional look for their interview.

Employment Skills:

This workshop is designed to provide individuals with the skills needed to obtain and maintain competitive employment. Topics include: attendance and punctuality, self presentation skills, anger management and conflict resolution, stress management, attitude and work ethic, customer service, cultural transition and adapting to change, time and money management, motivation and team building, self-determination and making decisions.
